Abstract:

This study analyzes the impact of teaching methods on student participation in physical education (PE) in schools in Djakotomey, particularly at CEG 1 Djakotomey and CEG Kinkinhoué. The aim is to examine how different approaches influence student engagement. The analytical framework that could better help us interpret our research findings is the composite anal ysis model by Mosston and Ashworth (2002) and Houssayé (1988). This model not only categorizes the types of styles likely to be used in classroom situations but also characterizes them based on well-defined variables. The survey, conducted among teachers and students, reveals that teaching styles such as laissez-faire and democratic styles encourage active participation, while the authoritarian style reduces it. The results confirm that using varied and tailored teaching methods to meet students’ needs enhances their engagement. The study recommends continuous teacher training and support for school infrastructure to promote a flexible, student-centered pedagogical approach, thereby maximizing their participation in PE and overall well-being.
