Coffee, as one of the most widely traded commodities, requires a precise quality evaluation to meet the expectations of consumers and producers. This paper systematically reviews the role of electronic noses (eNoses) in advancing coffee quality assessment. While traditional methods such as cupping offer valuable flavor insights, they are inherently subjective and influenced by environmental factors. eNoses provide an objective and reproducible means of aroma profiling, addressing these limitations through standardized measurements. The article highlights the applications of eNoses in quality control, defect identification, and predictive analytics, showcasing their potential to enhance coffee processing and ensure consistency. Despite challenges such as sensor sensitivity, calibration complexities, and high initial costs, ongoing advancements in sensor technology and machine learning promise to overcome these barriers. Integration of eNoses with traditional sensory methods could establish a comprehensive framework for coffee quality assurance, blending precision with expert judgment. This combination has the potential to improve consumer satisfaction, market adaptability, and overall quality standards in the coffee industry.
