The present study aims to analyze the effects of the organization of funeral ceremonies on the development of households in the Atchoukpa district, and to identify the reasons that explain the conduct of funeral ceremonies over a long period in the Atchoukpa district. For this, a quantitative survey was conducted with 98 subjects organizing funeral ceremonies in the Atchoukpa district, in order to properly conduct our research. The model of Jean Pierre Olivier de Sardan (1995) was used for this purpose. To do this, we used data collection tools such as the interview guide and the questionnaire. After analyzing the different results during the surveys, it reveals that the socio-professional activities carried out by the population, the low education rate of the population, the influence of tradition, social prestige, loans, the number of days are the factors that explain the organization of funeral ceremonies in the Atchoukpa district. These main determining factors have led us to formulate some suggestions whose implementation could help raise awareness among the population about the impact of the organization of funeral ceremonies which constitutes a brake on local development in the Atchoukpa district.
